FRANCE—People dressed in a character era costumes have a picnic in the grounds of the 17th century Chateau of Vaux-le-Vicomte, in Maincy near Paris during the annual Grand Siecle day experience, a rendez-vous for costume passionates. The day also marks the 400th anniversary of the birth of Nicolas Fouquet, a French parliamentarian who bought the chateau and transformed the grounds and the building into what it is today.
